How could someone so full of life die in such a way? She had so much potential as a writer and as a person, and the Nazis heartlessly cut it short.ĭespite the gut-wrenching ending, this book is a masterpiece of literature, and I recommend it to everyone who has ever been a child, and who has ever been human and alone. I knew coming into this book what the ending would be, but it didn't make it any less horrifying. Her character and spirit is so vivacious and vivid, making the reading experience touchingly human. She feels cabin fever and longs for outside and for the war to end. Her experiences with her changing body and mind, her first romance, and her struggles with her parents are something that all teens can relate to. It captures the desolation of war and the power of perseverance against all the odds.ĭespite her extraordinary circumstances, Anne's writing unmistakably reflects also the life of a teenager. Anne Frank is a stunning writer, and her diary is a work of brilliance. Just sharing my opinion)įunny, thoughtful, and heartbreaking, this book is one of the best I have ever read. Seriously? Also thoes who read her diary, and still have yet to know her real name. Who hurt you? Also- People who have no idea who Anne Frank was. (I doubt anyone would still be reading let alone care if I take offense or not.) Also, thoes who think the holocaust was fake. Just know I take personal offense to these statements. To thoes who think that quarantaine is exactly like Anne's life in the Annex, not being able to see other people. Also, dont you think she got uncomfortable in the Secret Annex? Not moving a muscle for hours? I just don't get how someone could 'Rate' her life, esspecially if its anything under 5 stars. We know she dies, as hard as it is to accept it, its true. How can you rate her diary, her LIFE? And just because it made you uncomfortable, or it didn't end the way you wanted it to? We all know what happened to many Jews (At least yall should). A girl that had dreams, just like any other human. To all thoes who didn't like the book : Are you kidding me? (No offense) Its Anne Frank. But any kid, at any age should know her story.Īlright. (And she dreams about a boy she used to like.) But seriously? Also, Peter and Anne kissed. Sure thats awkward and uncomfortable and weird. Theres a part im the book where she recalls when she asked her friend if she could touch her breasts. She talks about periods and bras, and breasts. And best of all, she kept believing people were good at heart. Persevering almost to the end of the war. And to think I didn't want to read it at first!! She became a very important person in my life. I read her book at least 5 times that same month, and I watched every Anne Frank movie that I could. But when I started reading, I couldn't stop. my older brother said it was a weird book. Although she doubted from time to time whether she was talented enough, Anne wanted to write anyway. When I was 12 my teacher required us to read this book. She hoped one day to become a famous writer or journalist. The nicest part is being able to write down all my thoughts and feelings otherwise, I'd absolutely suffocate. It is noteworthy that in The Secret Annex, Anne left out her notes about her love for Peter and her vicious remarks about her mother, such as 'my mother is in most things an example to me, but then an example of precisely how I shouldn’t do things.' What does writing mean to Anne? Since the original diary letters from 1943 have not survived, we do not know anything about them. There, the differences between the original diary and Anne's rewritten version are the greatest. She gave to the texts written during the first six months in hiding an especially thorough going-over. What are the main differences between Anne's diary and The Secret Annex?ġ5-year-old Anne looked very critically at the texts written by 13-year-old Anne.
